Pakistan nears final rules for satellite internet and targets fibre for 60% of towers

IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said Pakistan is in the final phases of finalising regulations for low-Earth-orbit satellite internet, and that the Fixed Satellite Services licensing framework is almost complete. She said the government aims to connect at least 60% of Telcom towers to fibre within three years, up from just over 19% now. Global satellite operators, including Starlink, have expressed interest but must meet licensing requirements before launching.
